Property industry unites to rebuild lives | Print |  E-mail
LandAid Foundation Partner LaunchThe great and the good from within the property industry are gathering together tonight to celebrate the launch of our Foundation Partner Scheme – designed to support our work in helping the young and disadvantaged to rebuild their lives and improve the physical environment.

While in its infancy, the scheme has already attracted 25 leading property companies including industry heavyweights Land Securities, Grosvenor, Helical Bar and GVA Grimley.

Members of the partnership will commit financial support, expert advice and training and education to the scheme which is expected to grow significantly as it gains widespread support across the industry.

LandAid Chair Robin Broadhurst said:

“The Foundation Partner Scheme is an integral part LandAid’s goal of becoming the leading charitable vehicle for the property industry.  The sector can make a real difference by working together to provide the young and disadvantaged with the facilities, expertise and support they need for a brighter future.”

Rob Bould, Chair, GVA Grimley’s Capital Markets Division said:

“It is good business practice for the property industry, like any other, to invest in the community.  LandAid is the natural charity for us to work with allowing all our staff to engage in a meaningful way with the rest of the industry.”

The event will be a double celebration as LandAid has also hit another major milestone - the charity has now committed over £1m to helping the young and homeless get their lives back on track.  The money has been spent establishing the first five Foundations for Life centres in London, working with youth homelessness charity Centrepoint.  The centres provide homeless young people with new learning facilities, specialist staff support and training opportunities.

Nicola Parry, Camberwell Foyer said:

“The new Foundations for Life centre is so much better than the rooms that were there before and it really makes you believe someone else thinks you are worth investing in.”

Ngozi Nwasa, Camberwell Foyer said:

“Without Foundations for Life and the support it offers, I would probably never have realised I wanted to do my GCSEs and achieved what I have so far.  I feel motivated and am really enjoying my studies”

(The names of the young people have been changed to protect their identity)
