EDI Statement of Intent

LandAid is committed to ensuring that the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion inform and underpin everything we do.

For us this means that we take active steps to ensure our culture and practices help break down barriers that can inhibit equity, hinder diversity, and lead to the exclusion of the views, voices and people who have an important role to play in our work.

This in turn will impact the way we are governed, the way we work, the way we recruit and develop our team, the way we communicate, the way we work with and engage our supporters and, crucially, the way we tackle youth homelessness.

We fully recognise that there is no such thing as ‘a level playing field’. Our gender, our ethnic background, our sexuality, where we grew up and went to school, the extent of our economic advantage and our physical or mental health are just some of the factors that can impact our ability to live successful and fulfilling lives.

So, we commit to open and honest discussion, to listen to challenge, to reflect on our actions, and to take genuine steps to improve what we do, how we do it, and with whom we do it. And we commit to doing so with urgency.

We recognise that this is a journey. We recognise too that we are very much at the beginning. We will work with our trustees, our staff team, our supporters and our partners to set clear priorities, agree targets and goals, and do the work required, to ensure we meet the highest standards of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Only in this way will we be able to understand and reflect the society and the industry within which we work, and to have lasting impact on the lives of young people who experience homelessness most acutely.
