Youth homelessness is an acute and rising problem. Last year almost 136,000 young people approached their local council for housing support.
Rising rents and reductions in benefit payments have had a negative impact on the country’s most vulnerable young people. Sadly, young people from BAME backgrounds, LGBTQ+ young people and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds are even more adversely affected.
Last year…
- 24% of the youth homelessness population identified at LGBTQ+, and were 12 times more likely to experience homelessness,
- 27% of the people accessing homelessness services were from BAME communities.
We created Networks Against Homelessness to bring together networks and memberships organisations from across the built environment to help us solve this.
Each year these networks pledge to help us to achieve our mission – through spreading the word about LandAid and youth homelessness with their members and raising funds for our work.
