40 Stories of Impact – LandAid’s Regional Boards

As part of our 40th anniversary campaign, we are shining a light on the people and stories that have formed a crucial part of our history. In this piece we highlight our Regional Boards, who help us expand our impact regionally around the UK.

LandAid’s Regional Boards play an important role in turning national ambition into local impact. Made up of voluntary professionals across key UK regions, they use their networks, influence and local insight to strengthen engagement with LandAid, opening doors to new partnerships, supporting fundraising activity and increasing visibility across the sector.

Our Regional Board Members are passionate advocates for ensuring support reaches the young people who need it most, helping to build stronger connections between LandAid and regional networks over time. Their value lies in turning intent into action, mobilising local energy, deepening industry involvement, and helping LandAid grow its reach and impact across the UK

LandAid's Regional Boards

Through 10 events and with 6 new members, in 2025 our regionals boards raised over £123,000 toward our mission of ending youth homelessness. Today we have 6 regional hubs, allowing our support to reach every corner of the UK.

“I have always enjoyed supporting LandAid since the early days of the Battersea Fun Run in the mid eighties right up to helping organise the Patrons Group today.

I had the privilege of being a trustee for many years and around 2017  resolved with the Board that it was time for our London centric charity, to engage our colleagues out of London to support our mission. A hit team of Mike Slade , Liz Peace and yours truly were dispatched to the regions starting in Birmingham, my home town, but soon expanding to the Big 6. Every day I am very inspired and uplifted by the work of the regional Boards”

– Rob Bould, Founder of the Patrons Network and former Chair of the Board.

Our Boards truly go above and beyond to make our impact matter. Throughout the years each have gathered to deliver some truly special moments

The Midlands

The Midlands

Since starting in 2017, the St. Modwen charity run organised by our Midlands Board has raised over £300,000, across six events.

The funding supported charities such as the Newark Emmaus Trust based in the Midlands, helping young people who are experiencing homelessness to access accommodation, support and training.

The North West

The North West

Since starting in 2022, the North West Gala Dinner, organised by our North West Board has grown into a truly special occasion, bringing together people across the industry. Last year, the event raised an impressive £84,000 which is a testament to the Boards commitment and the generosity of those who supported and attended on the night.

The North West Gala Dinner is back for 2026, once again uniting the real estate community and illustrates what can be achieved when people come together to make a meaningful difference. The event helps to support charities such as Salford Foyer, where our funding helped to create six brand new high-quality units, with enough space for a baby or young child.

Yorkshire and Humber

Yorkshire and Humber

What began in 2022 as a small, locally organised event raising just under £4,000 has, with the continued support of the Yorkshire Board and our ambassador network, has grown into a key fixture in the region’s fundraising calendar. By 2025 the Yorkshire Ambassadors Quiz was raising £15,000 at UKREiiF, bringing together professionals from across the property industry in support of young people facing homelessness.

To date, the event has raised over £35,000 for LandAid, demonstrating how consistent local leadership and sector collaboration can build momentum and long-term impact. We are proud of how the Yorkshire Board and its ambassadors have nurtured the event’s growth and are looking forward to another successful year as it continues to bring the industry together for a shared purpose.

The South West

The South West

2023 saw the first of the South West Spring and Summer Party events in June for a sunny evening of networking, street food, entertainment, and music, all in support of LandAid. The South West Board wanted to do something different from the usual black-tie events that the property industry are awash with.

This first year featured drag bingo to tick both entertainment and fundraising boxes! 185 attendees and over £11k raised. After this success the event was brought back in 2024 at Wake the Tiger in Bristol, an immersive art experience which saw 240 join from the industry with over £18,000 raised.

Eastern Region

Eastern Region

The Eastern Board are LandAid’s pro bono superstars, matching every request which comes their way, often looking at requests from other regions too.

“The Eastern Board make pro bono matching seamless. With Ben (Hayek) and Sophie (Thornley) at the helm, they represent what true collaboration and networking looks like. It is executed with ease, compassion and a methodical approach.

They are a joy to work with and go above and beyond to help our charity partners where they can. They have even got involved personally, to offer their invaluable advice, and signposting, even if they can’t directly help a charity fulfil their request. They give their time and expertise to help charities breakdown often complex scenarios. They have a wealth of contacts across the property sector and are always keen to involve new supporters to get on board with the programme.” – KT Banwell, Pro Bono Officer

The Eastern Board is an eager participant in many supporter events, raising vital funds for LandAid, including the Contractors v Consultants rugby match, EastProp Awards and Steele Bodgers and organise their own local Trek.

Scotland

Scotland

Through collaboration between LandAid and the Scotland Board, we helped secure a new property that will enable Four Square to continue delivering vital services to young women at risk of homelessness. The project is expected to support more than 30 young women, providing safe, affordable accommodation alongside the stability and specialist support needed to move forward with their lives.

This work demonstrates the unique role the property industry can play in tackling youth homelessness — not only through funding, but by bringing together expertise, networks and practical support to unlock long-term housing solutions. The Number Twenty project is a strong example of what responsible, sector-wide partnership can achieve when focused on lasting social impact.

Celebrating 40 years of LandAid

For the past 40 years, our Regional Boards have helped shape LandAid’s impact across the UK, ensuring support reaches the communities that need it most. Their expertise and local insight are vital in driving meaningful change. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue strengthening these partnerships and delivering life-changing support for young people facing homelessness nationwide.

Thank you to all our Board members for their unwavering support to LandAid.
