For the 22nd year running, over 600 professionals from across the property industry got competitive in the annual LandAid 10k sponsored by Evans Randall Investors.
Competition remained high as runners raced to smash personal bests and course records. In a twist this year 105 runners took part in the 5K race – meaning there was something for everyone.
In the women’s 10K race Lois Bond of Knight Frank crossed the line first in a time of 41.19 and in the men’s 10K race Michael Wright of Watts Group won the men’s event in 34.52.
For the second year running Kent Gardner, CEO of Evans Randall Investors, the headline sponsor of the event, threw down the gauntlet to other senior property professionals, challenging them to beat him in this year’s race. Marc Leyshon, Wedlake Bell was the CEO Champion with a time of 35.53. With LandAid’s own CEO, Paul Morrish, coming in at an impressive, considering the lack of training, 1.01.35.
Joining them this year there were 20 LandAid Ambassadors. Oliver Werby from Malcolm Hollis was crowned the LandAid Ambassador Champion with a time of 39.49.
Beth West of Landsec was crowned fastest female over 45 with a time of 54.29, whilst Steve Murphy of Argus Software took the title of fastest male in the same category, completing the course in 35.53. Special congratulations also go to Deka Bank who were awarded the Fastest Team prize and to CoStar who raised the most money ahead of the event – £1,622. A special mention to Willis Towers Watson who swooped in on the day and have now raised an amazing £6,280.
Real Asset partners again stepped up to sponsor the bar for runners and giving the event village a real festival feel was singer Piers Dashfield who performed an acoustic set in the sunshine.
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the industry, LandAid has raised over £97,000. All donations from this year’s LandAid’s 10K will go directly to projects across the country which are creating safe, secure and affordable housing for young homeless people. Projects like YMCA Thames Gateway in Romford, where LandAid is part funding a modular construction housing scheme for young people. It will create thirty self-contained one bed flats for young people who are ready to move out of YMCA Thames Gateway’s support hostel and into more independent accommodation.
