With just three days until the property industry’s biggest day of fundraising, we thought you’d like to know how your wacky activities and innovative events will help young people across the UK.
LandAid uses your donations to fund projects like RefugeeYouth, which supports young refugees in London who are facing isolation, despair and homelessness. As the worldwide refugee crisis worsens, programmes such as those offered by RefugeeYouth are essential in making sure young people feel included in our society, and are safe from harm.
Abdul’s story
Adbul spent 2 years waiting for a decision on his case, and in this time he got involved in RefugeeYouth. Here he was able to run projects and events and developed skills in film making, acting and public speaking.
‘Before finding RefugeeYouth I was ashamed of calling myself a refugee. I never thought I would find a group of young people doing such positive things. Getting involved in RefugeeYouth opened my mind. I realised there were young people who were proud of who they were, and I wanted to be part of that.”
When he finally got a positive decision from the Home Office, and was able to work and re-apply to university, he found that he had developed confidence and skills that were of great help to him. Abdul now has a full time job, and has applied to study English at university next year.
Projects like RefugeeYouth are made possible thanks to the generosity and commitment of the property industry. Thank you for doing something amazing for young people like Abdul by supporting #LandAidDay.
