LandAid Gala Dinner raises over £300,000 to end youth homelessness

Wednesday 6 November saw the LandAid Gala Dinner return for a second year to The Londoner Hotel for a brilliant night of Olympic themed celebration and vital fundraising.

Following the 2023 LandAid Rugby World Cup Gala Dinner, the sporting theme continued this year by recognising the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. To support, some of the world’s most respected athletes were in attendance.

Former Sprint and Hurdling World Champion & Olympic World Silver Medalist, Colin Jackson, was our host for the night, alongside many special guests including Rebecca Adlington, Tom Daley CBE, Dame Sarah Storey, James Guy CBE, and Beth Tweddle, to name a few.

The night saw over 360 property and wider built environment professionals come together to raise a staggering £305,995!

Inspirational voices were a highlight of the evening.

Alongside raising much needed funding, the night was also an opportunity to talk about rising issue of youth homelessness and the daily challenge faced by thousands across the country who don’t have a safe space to turn to each night.

A real highlight of the evening came from a moving and informative speech from Muhammed, a young person who has been supported by YMCA London City and North over the last few years. He spoke about his real life experiences and brought to light what the reality of homelessness really looks and feels like.

This was followed by brilliant panel discussions with some of the attending athletes, led by Colin Jackson.

The action packed agenda continued throughout the night with table games, and both a live and silent auction.

Expressionist artist, Ben Mosley created a live painting of all of the Olympians in room throughout the event. Influenced by Picasso and Matisse, Ben is regarded as one of Britain’s top live painters and was the official artist for Team GB in Paris this year.

This one off unique piece was a brilliant talking topic as it came to life throughout the dinner and significantly contributed to raising vital funds.

Alongside weekends away, shopping experiences and afternoon teas, other alite auction lots available included Oasis Club Wembley tickets, a private screening of Daley Thompson’s new film, and a signed Anthony Joshua boxing glove.

Thank you so much to everyone who supported!

The generosity and enthusiasm of all those who attended means that LandAid can continue our vital work to support young people facing homelessness across the UK, in a time where funding has never been so vital.

The night would also not have not been possible without our headline sponsors. So, a huge thank you to Allsop, Delancey, Redevco and URW.

At Allsop, we were immensely proud to sponsor the LandAid Gala dinner and charity auction. This prestigious event not only celebrated the incredible achievements of our GB Olympians and Paralympians but also supported LandAid's crucial mission to end youth homelessness. By bringing together the property industry and world-class athletes, a powerful platform for positive change is created. We were honoured to play a part in this inspiring evening that combined athletic excellence with compassionate action for our communities.

As a company committed to creating long-term legacy through real estate, whether it be iconic developments such as Here East and East Village, both of which resulted from the London 2012 games, or Zone 1 neighbourhood transformations such as Elephant and Castle Town Centre or the Earls Court site, Delancey is proud and delighted to have sponsored the 2024 LandAid Olympic Gala dinner reception. It was an honour to be in the presence of so many Olympic sporting heroes, and to celebrate the huge amount that was delivered out of London 2012 by ourselves and our industry peers, but more important than any of that was the opportunity for so many of us to gather in one room and raise money for LandAid and its critical work to end youth homelessness in the UK.

As a long term supporter of Land Aid, URW is delighted to co-sponsor their annual fundraising Gala, a very important event on the calendar to raise much needed funds to deliver programmes with significant impact on ending youth homeless. Our teams have also enjoyed getting involved with other fundraising events throughout the year including the recent LandAid Trek and Westfield London will once again host the SleepOut in 2025 – we look forward to making it even bigger and better than this year!
