LandAid is awarding four donations of £1,000 to charities to deliver projects to improve the lives of the young people they support.
The first award we’re publicising is a donation of £1,000 to Caring for Communities and People, to help fund their Community Pantry and Kitchen.
The Community Pantry and Kitchen opened in May 2019 providing an alternative to traditional food bank provision. Pantry offers local people complete choice over what they purchase, together with being able to visit weekly for as long as is required. Pantry supports those who are struggling financially, such as low income households, people in work transition or those going through a crisis.
Pantry is more than just a food offer. Information, advice and guidance is readily available on a range of topics, and volunteering is actively encouraged so that members can become part of the overall solution to poverty and food inequality.
Caring for Communities and People will use part of our grant to purchase a larger refrigeration unit for the shop store area. They will also purchase a food blender so they can introduce members to the concept of making fresh smoothies and juicing.
