This month, we spoke to Amy Howarth, who’s been at LandAid since November 2025. As the Senior Strategic Programmes Manager, Amy helps run our three core impactful programmes.
What brought you to LandAid in the first place?
I have previously worked in education, corporate and charity settings, and this role seemed perfectly suited to both my range of experience and my passion for helping young people. I was looking for an organisation where everyone shares core values, and believes in a clear mission to help disadvantaged young people. The role allows me to work with a range of external partners, drawing together people’s expertise to create meaningful differences to people’s lives, with visible & tangible impact. I knew that at LandAid I would be inspired, challenged, and able to empower young people to live better lives whilst being able to learn about a new sector whilst contributing my own ideas and experiences.
What’s your role, how do you help end youth homelessness?
What’s one project or moment that made you proud to work at LandAid?
What’s one challenge LandAid faces in this work that you think more people should know about?
The nature and scale of youth homelessness is an increasingly worrying consideration across the UK. Despite the amazing work charities do, the problem is still worsening and we all need to work together harder than ever to see impact. There is a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and solutions out there but we need to find ways to continue making connections, collaborating and problem solving to ensure we find joined-up solutions that keep young people at the forefront of our decision making.
What’s one thing you wish more people in the property sector understood about our mission?
That the property sector is brilliantly placed to help us end the growing crisis of youth homeless, and that this support needs to be holistic – the crisis will not be solved by housing alone, we need to look at the holistic picture and draw on everyone’s expertise to offer the best support we can in a way that is sustainable.
