What brought you to LandAid in the first place?
I was first involved with LandAid in 2023 as a Freelance Event Manager for the Cambridge SleepOut. After collaborating with the team and learning more about their amazing cause, I became genuinely interested in joining the organization. Volunteering has always been something I’m passionate about, and the idea of combining my love for events with the opportunity to connect with diverse professionals in the property industry really appealed to me. When I saw the Senior Events Officer position posted later that year, I applied—and, as they say, the rest is history!
What’s your role, how do you help end youth homelessness?
As Senior Events Officer at LandAid, I’m responsible for planning and delivering our own calendar of events, such as the Race for LandAid, from start to finish. This involves managing logistics, budgets, and coordinating with venues, vendors, and volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
I also work closely with our supporters and partners who host their own fundraising events, providing guidance, resources, and promotional support to help them achieve their goals. Whether it’s offering advice on event planning or helping with marketing materials, I ensure their efforts align with LandAid’s mission.
What’s one project or moment that made you proud to work at LandAid?
One moment I’m particularly proud of was leading the event delivery for Race for LandAid. I revamped the event by introducing new race distances and moving it to a beautiful new venue at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The changes brought fresh energy, attracted new participants, and helped raise vital funds for our mission. Seeing the event’s success and the positive feedback was a real highlight.
What’s one challenge LandAid faces in this work that you think more people should know about?
A key challenge I face in my role is balancing the demand for high-quality, impactful events with limited resources. We want to create memorable, large-scale events that truly engage people and drive significant funding for youth homelessness, but with a small, tight-knit team, it can be tough to execute everything at the level we envision.
It can sometimes be challenging to remain creative, but it’s also what pushes me to find innovative ways to make our events both impactful and achievable.
