St. Modwen raises over £250,000 for LandAid following fifth annual charity run

St. Modwen, one of the UK’s leading property developers, is celebrating after raising more than a quarter of a million pounds for LandAid, the property industry charity, after its fifth annual charity run raised more than £50,000.

More than 300 property professionals came together this year to take part in either a 5km or 10km race through one of the toughest routes in the Midlands.

. Runners completing the 10km course faced a notoriously challenging but scenic route featuring a total incline of more than 120m through Longbridge’s Cofton Park. Individuals of all abilities took part in the event, whether they chose to run, walk or support from the crowd, with their generous donations and fundraising efforts helping St. Modwen to eclipse its ambitious fundraising target and support LandAid’s fight against youth homelessness.

The 10km race was won by Charlie Elliot of Lysander and Emma Taylor of Hopkins Coats Associates, who both finished the race in less than thirty-eight minutes. The 5km race winners were Ben Newton of Eversheds Sutherland and Holly Smith of Avison Young, who ran remarkable times of 19:50 and 26:19 respectively.

All funds raised will support local youth homelessness charities, including St Basils, whose vital services help young people to find homes and develop essential life skills to combat youth homelessness. The funds will support St Basils’ Live and Work Phase 2, a project championed by the LandAid Midlands Board, providing accommodation and employment opportunities for young people facing homelessness in the West Midlands.

St. Modwen formed a partnership with LandAid in 2017 and has since raised more than £250,000 for the charity. Its annual race has become a fixture of the property calendar and the company is also a regular supporter of the charity’s annual SleepOut event, as well as its fundraising football tournaments.

Last year, 129,000 young people between the ages of 16-25 years approached their local council for housing support. Rising rents and reductions in benefit payments have had a negative impact on the country’s most vulnerable and organisations delivering critical services are struggling with an increase in demand. We need to provide long term, safe, secure, and affordable accommodation for the thousands of young people who need it.
