Together, we’ve had quite a year. LandAid has united the property industry to support disadvantaged young people , and in April, we decided to focus all our efforts on ending youth homelessness. We’ve been busy crunching numbers, drawing charts and evaluating our progress and are delighted to bring you our 2015/16 Impact Report. The report, kindly designed by Mace, shows examples of our successes in each area of our work.

Here are just a few highlights:
We awarded over £1.2 million in grants to 20 inspiring local charities – an average grant size of £60,000 for each one. This money has empowered charities to create more accommodation and offer more support to vulnerable young people.
Simone Spray, CEO of 42nd Street, said our grant ‘opened up the opportunity for us to develop [an] amazing space…that will have a real impact on the way that they view the world and the way that others view their world”.
In total, 7,108 young people were supported through our projects. Our funding enabled charities to provide a wider range of services to young people, including access to education, counselling, training and life skills, to help them overcome challenges like homelessness and achieve brighter futures.
Tia, one of the young people supported by our projects, said: ‘I’ve told my Support Worker that I want to go to University so they’re trying to help me with that now. I want to be a Barrister… I want to be able to make a difference and give people justice.’
149 young people received safe accommodation through our projects, protecting them from life on the streets and helping them to live independently.
We’ve seen the continued success of our Pro Bono Programme – we brokered free property expertise for 35 charity projects, ranging from design and asset management to legal advice. The value of the work was worth £119,000.
Chris Whetstone, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Bilfinger GVA, said: ‘End to end, the brokered approach through LandAid provides a very professional process for connecting charity property requirements with the skills of our staff with positive experience for all involved’.
Our total income for the year was worth £1.8 million. For every £1 we raised, 77p went straight towards helping young people realise more positive futures.
LandAid Day, the property industry’s biggest day of fundraising, raised its biggest amount yet – an incredible £140,000! This was a 20% increase on last year’s total.
Our relationship with the property industry has gone from strength to strength – our number of corporate partnerships grew to 117, and the number of LandAid Ambassadors shot up to 188.
We’re increasingly popular on Twitter – we reached 4,500 followers this year and our LandAid Debate, featuring Sadiq Khan and Zac Goldsmith, caught the public’s attention, making #LandAidDebate one of the top trending hashtags during the event.
Paul Morrish, CEO of LandAid, says: ‘It doesn’t matter how much stuff you do, how much money you give, get or spend. What matters is the difference you make. We’re so proud at LandAid that over the past year, we’ve helped charities make a real difference for over 7,000 young people. Through grants, advice and support and our pro bono programme we’ve ensured that property industry fundraising has been plugged in where it’s needed most, and where it can have a massive impact. We’re proud. And we’re grateful. Thank you.’
Our success is due to the amazing support that we receive from our donors, fundraisers and volunteers and this year’s Impact Report gives you an overview of just some of our achievements. We’d like to thank all of you for your commitment to LandAid and we hope that this report illustrates the breadth of our work, which would not be possible without your generosity.
