LandAid is part of a new London Homeless Charities Group launching its first winter campaign with support of Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
On Friday (17 November 2017) The Duke of Cambridge attended the launch of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and LandAid's Pledge150 campaign, for young people at risk of homelessness. The campaign is part of the organisation's 150th year celebrations and was held at RICS' London headquarters.
Thanks to the generosity of the property industry, LandAid has raised a record-breaking £40,600 from its Christmas Card Alternative 2017.
At six foot eight inches tall and weighing over 100kg I am not really built to be on a bike let alone cycle 100 miles on one. I have always wanted to do the RideLondon 100 and missed out on the ballot in previous years. So when the opportunity arose to participate in the event with LandAid I jumped at the opportunity and signed up.
LandAid have teamed up with Comic Relief to fund Homeless Link's sixth Young and Homeless study. Jennifer Harris from Homeless Link explains how the research will address the issues that most concern young people:
This week we visited charity partner Hope into Action: Black Country in the West Midlands, who provide supported housing for people facing homelessness in Wolverhampton. Hope into Action was awarded a LandAid grant to refurbish four shared houses in four different locations including Wolverhampton, as well as an additional home in Wolverhampton as part of our Sponsor a Home campaign.
For the first time in 40 years a Snap General Election has been called. I recently attended the Homeless Link Strategic Policy forum, along with other leading charities in the homeless sector, to discuss how the new government should tackle homelessness post-election.
