It’s a view close to our hearts here at LandAid. A year ago we set out to achieve lasting change with a clear goal in mind: to end youth homelessness. This in itself had us concentrating our efforts on one pressing issue. But over the year, we recognised the need to focus even further.
LandAid has announced a £100,000 grant for Depaul UK to help create a new day centre for young homeless people in South London. With youth homelessness on the rise, daytime support and shelter are urgently needed in the area.
Where does my money go? It's a question anyone donating to charity has a right to ask. Being careful, accountable and transparent in the use of our supporters' donations is one of LandAid's core values. That is why, as part of its drive to improve transparency, LandAid has published its grants data on 360Giving.
UK property companies Palmer Capital and Shaftesbury have each donated £30,000 to LandAid, the property industry charity, to sponsor the transformation of derelict properties in Leeds and Newcastle into homes for young people facing homelessness.
One of the things we're proud of at LandAid is that as well as investing over £1 million every year in projects working to end youth homelessness, we never just write a cheque and walk away. We work alongside the charities we help, bringing in property expertise and often funding them more than once.

In an announcement widely trailed over the past couple of days, the Chancellor today earmarked £115m to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping in the UK. Any funding is of course welcome, especially for hard-pressed services working with those on the streets who are in desperate need of accommodation and support today and tonight.
With a grant of £100,000 from LandAid and the Redevco Foundation, 42nd Street is converting a 3-storey shop into a new facility for young people in order to respond to an unprecedented increase in demand for its services.
