What do they need help with?
Keynsham & District Mencap Society provides vital support to over 170 children and adults with a range of learning disabilities, primarily across BANES, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire. They currently run their clubs and services from a variety of rented halls and offices but are now actively seeking a more permanent and accessible base.
Their ambition is to establish a community hub: a welcoming, inclusive space with a café, dedicated offices, a hall for events, and outdoor space. Ideally, the building would be fully accessible, located near their current base in BS31 1HG, and include features like a stage and event facilities. While property ownership is their preference, they are open to long-term rental if it meets their needs.
They have already raised close to £100,000 towards the project, and several trusts are ready to fund any necessary refit works. To progress their plans, they are seeking pro bono support from a property professional who can:
- Help source and acquire a suitable property
- Provide advice on suitability, planning, and accessibility
- Project manage the acquisition and fit-out process through to completion
This support will be instrumental in helping the charity expand its services and signposting for members and families, with a target timeline for completion of 31 October 2025.
