What do they need help with?
Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency (GCDA) is seeking pro bono support from a chartered building surveyor to undertake a condition survey of Woolwich Common Community Centre, Leslie Smith Square, Woolwich, London SE18.
The community centre is a well-used local facility providing space for a nursery, food distribution, adult learning, wellbeing activities, migrant support, domestic abuse services and a wide range of community groups. The recent failure of the building’s boiler has highlighted wider concerns about the condition of the property and responsibility for repairs.
GCDA is looking for an experienced surveyor to carry out an independent assessment of the building and its key elements, helping the organisation to better understand its current condition and future maintenance requirements.
The survey would ideally:
- Assess the overall condition of the building and its principal fabric and services.
- Identify significant defects and repair priorities.
- Review the condition of major building services, including the heating and hot water system where appropriate.
- Highlight any issues that may affect the safe operation of the building.
- Provide an independent report that can support future discussions with the landlord and inform long-term asset planning.
The organisation can provide access to the building, relevant maintenance records and details of previous repair issues.
