Croydon Community hub is seeking a building condition survey for a proposed community centre

What do they need help with?

Croydon Council has asked The Family Centre to consider moving from its current premises to Fieldway Community Centre, Fieldway, New Addington, Croydon, CR0 9DX.

The proposed building is a large community hall with a kitchen and toilets. The Family Centre understands that asbestos is present throughout the property and believes substantial work may be needed before the building can be used safely and effectively.

The charity is looking for support from a suitably qualified building condition surveyor to inspect the property and provide an informed assessment of its condition and requirements. This should identify the work needed to bring the centre up to an appropriate standard and provide an estimate of the associated costs.

This assessment will help The Family Centre understand the scale of the investment required, identify any major property-related risks and make an informed decision about the proposed relocation.

The charity currently occupies its existing building under a licence from Croydon Council. As a small organisation with limited funds, it is concerned that the cost of upgrading the proposed premises could be beyond its means. Pro bono professional advice would give the charity the evidence it needs to plan its next steps and discuss the future of the building with the council.
