Aberdeen Foyer- Safe Spaces Grant

The Aberdeen Foyer was launched in 1995 with a clear charitable mission to offer a safe place to stay for young people who were homeless or at risk of homelessness, and to enable people to move towards and into work.

Cost of the project

£38,460

Location

Aberdeen, UK

After 25 years the Aberdeen Foyer remain aligned to their founding vision, but in recent years they have also sought to broaden their reach. They aim to move ‘up stream’, to work with younger people to prevent crisis in later years and also work with older people, particularly in moving into employment and in supporting recovery.

With this Grant, the Aberdeen Foyer will be able to enhance and sustain their Nightstop service, creating at least 15 new bedspaces, primarily through a project coordinator post. This Pilot service, commissioned 2022, has shown promise in building a network of community hosts and promoting its distinctive approach across Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire.
