The Amber Foundation supports young adults facing complex problems and offers support to help transform their lives towards a better future.
Alongside accommodation at their centres in Devon, Wilshire, Surrey and Kent, the young residents also receive support to develop new employment and social skills and have time to focus on personal development. Their work is designed to help young people move on independently to a job, education, training, and a sustainable home.
At their site in Surrey, there is a 32 unit supported accommodation for young people. The building is a Jacobean style mansion house with Grade II listed status. During a survey conducted by English Heritage, the chimneys were noted as leaning onto the outside of the building, affecting the surrounding brickwork, and causing a danger to the space underneath.
LandAid Pro Bono Programme was able to connect the Amber Foundation with Conisbee Structural Engineers to conduct a full survey on the chimney area and roof and advise on the best course of action.
Thanks to LandAid, the charity made a considerable saving on what would have been a costly repair and also ensure the premises continued to be safe to use for its residents.
