Hope into Action

Hope into Action provides homes, support and a sense of belonging to homeless people of any age. From their base in Peterborough, they operate a franchise, which is straight forward to set up in any town or city and involves paid staff and trained volunteers from an identified local church community. The charity is the Guardian Public Service Awards 2017 housing winner.

Cost of the project

£68,000

Location

Peterborough, UK

LandAid’s £68,000 grant will enable Hope into Action to renovate three empty houses to provide a total of 12 bed spaces for young people who have been homeless. Each young person will have their own bedroom, as well as a shared kitchen and bathroom.

Once the young people have been housed, they will be engaged in a programme of mentoring to identify their strengths and potential and support them to maintain their tenancy. This will empower them to contribute to society, working alongside their support worker and trained volunteers from the local church.
