COVID-19 had an immediate and detrimental effect on their service users. A majority of their residents were in receipt of universal credit or disability benefits, and were reliant on food banks and donations. They also struggled with poor mental health, such as anxiety, depression and stress, and this was only increased due to lockdown measures. Look Ahead saw a significant increase in challenging behaviours and incidents in services since the start of lockdown.
LandAid’s £10,000 grant covered the cost of food, PPE and other essential items for their young people. Look Ahead’s mission is that no young person will go hungry during this crisis.
