Lemon Leopard and Telford Homes – Pro Bono

Through LandAid’s pro bono programme great progress is being made to support young people facing homelessness in London with Telford Homes saving charity, Lemon Leopard over £7,000!

Cost of the project

£7,000

Location

Hoxton, London, UK

Lemon Leopard are an innovative and exciting collective based at Folklore, a music and events space in Hoxton, London.

They have big plans to renovate the space above their entertainment venue into accommodation for young people facing homelessness. Alongside this they want to establish a new hostel on the carpark at the back of the building, based on their Community House model, which sees people in need sharing resources and supporting one another.

Through LandAid’s pro bono programme, the team from Telford Homes generously and proactively set about supporting the charity, providing a technical / cost report on the various options for the refurbishment project.

Telford Homes then went even further with their support, facilitating introductions to four of their own supply partners to fulfil gaps in the specialist support required by the project, helping to bring everything together and keeping the project moving forward.

In total, the work undertaken by Telford Homes and the professional consultants they brought on board, has saved Lemon Leopard over £7,000 so far, in establishing the feasibility of their plans – a significant saving for a small grass-roots charity.

Telford exemplifies the power of what can happen when a corporate reaches out in the spirit of connection to a charity to crate local change in the lives of people often ignored. In years to come the smiles on the faces of young people will be a reverberation of the kindness shown by Telford today. We love working with them and long may the partnership continue- this would not be possible was it not for LandAid.

Last year, Paul Garner and his colleagues on Telford’s People Managers training programme were seeking volunteering opportunities and generously signed-up to the LandAid Pro Bono programme. This is where the opportunity to support London based charity, Lemon Leopard arose.

In 2023, Telford Homes were the winners of the LandAid Award for Pro Bono Contribution.

It was a pleasure working with Lemon Leopard. We feel very satisfied that we met the brief of the expectations that was tabled, and that our technical and financial expertise was well received and appreciated.
