Shrewsbury Ark needed support

The Shrewsbury Ark is a longstanding charity supporting people experiencing homelessness in Shrewbury.

They own a substantial property in Shrewsbury that was going unused and was not generating any income.

As a small organisation with limited funding, they came to LandAid’s Pro Bono team seeking expert architectural and/or space planning guidance to understand how the building could be repurposed or developed to generate revenue, while keeping upfront costs to a minimum.

The charity was at the very early stages of this project and hadn’t yet started any formal planning or assessments.

They were unsure of what is possible or where to begin and needed initial professional advice to help assess viable options and identify a route forward.

They were excited to explore all opportunities to ensure their premises could contribute to long-term sustainability of their services, especially as demand for homelessness support continues to grow in the area.

Pro Bono Success!

Thanks to LandAid’s Pro Bono Programme, the charity was matched with our corporate Partner Indurent.

The company jumped at the opportunity to help a committed grassroots organisation make the most of a key asset and continue delivering life-changing support to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

A special thanks to Richard Hickman from Indurent, who took on the challenge heads on and provided the charity with quality skills and expertise.

LandAid’s pro bono support has been invaluable. Having expert guidance from Richard as we explore how to safely rent out our second-floor offices has given us real confidence in developing the building for future sustainability
