At the start of the New Year, two significant legal projects for YMCA London City and North were matched in under a week thanks to LandAid’s Pro Bono Programme – a fantastic demonstration of the power of collaboration within our Cornerstone Partner network.

Thanks to LandAid’s Pro Bono Programme, YMCA London City & North was matched with our valued partners CMS and Evershed for the legal support they needed to continue helping young people before crisis hits.
With around 150 staff delivering supported accommodation, youth outreach and mental health services across London, ensuring contracts are clear, compliant and legally robust is essential to YMCA London City & North protecting both staff and the organisation.
Housing up to 355 young people each night, with rooms used 98 per cent of the time, safe, fair and transparent housing provision become central to how the charity operates.
At the start of the year, YMCA London City and North came to us urgently needing legal support to make ensure they could continue supporting as many young people as possible.
LandAid’s Pro Bono team was quick to action. As valued Cornerstone Partners, CMS and Eversheds stepped forward to offer pro bono legal support that was urgently needed.
Catriona at CMS is currently reviewing and updating the charity’s employment contracts in line with the Employment Rights Act 2025.
At the same time, Megan and Phillip at Eversheds are reviewing and strengthening the charity’s licence agreement for young people living in supported accommodation.
The work is ongoing, but this rapid response shows what happens when trusted partners act quickly. Strong legal foundations mean stronger services for hundreds of young people rebuilding their lives.
