About the Organisation
Burnley Boys and Girls Club – The Home of Lancashire’s Oldest Youth Charity
BBGC is one of Lancashire’s oldest youth charities. Founded in 1898, this year it celebrates 125 years. It now has over 450 members, and supports children and young people from age five to twenty five, by creating a safe, fun, friendly atmosphere where we can learn, develop and grow together. The organisation sits within the 8th most financially deprived area in the country; and so, they believe they cater where there is a strong need for support for the younger generation.
BBGC sees young people coming to them for help and support with housing, benefit claims, employability, emergency shelter because of domestic violence, or just somewhere to escape. The team possess the skills to fix such problems and the young people in their care know that they are more than just a signpost, but that they are there at the right time to find a solution that fits the problem.
During lockdown they saw a big increase in young people being homeless, whether it was sofa surfing or walking the streets at night. And so the organisation has aspirations to source and run some temporary accommodation, to help those in an emergency situation

The charity is keen to engage with pro bono support across a number of areas and would be grateful for offers of services in the following areas:
- Initial Project Scoping Consultation: They are seeking a strategic advice session with a property professional on whether it is even possible to acquire some land, to house approximately 5 mobile homes, to use as emergency/ move on accommodation for young people. They wish to understand and explore the legalities surrounding such a concept.
- Land Search and the acquisition of some land that could potentially house 5 static mobile homes.
- Support with how to access funding opportunities.
- Help with developing their marketing and communications.
