About the Organisation
Bristol Estate Leaseholders and Tenant’s Association
BELTA (Bristol Estate Leaseholders and Tenants’ Association) is a resident-led organisation representing over 1,000 people across 33 housing blocks on the Bristol Estate in East Brighton.
Run by volunteer trustees who live on the estate, BELTA prioritises listening, building trust, and delivering resident-led impact rather than top-down decisions.
What BELTA Does: BELTA works to make life on the estate more vibrant, supportive, and inclusive by providing access to:
- Affordable food and community meals
- Free and low-cost events and activities
- Community-led arts, crafts, and wellbeing projects
- Safe, welcoming shared spaces for all
- Resident advocacy and representation
Request details:
The organisation is seeking pro bono architectural support for early-stage design, feasibility, and planning work on a modest, community-led extension project (approximately 70–100m²).
Support Required:
- Concept design drawings and options
- Scaled layout drawings (existing and proposed) to RIBA Stage 2
- Visualisations (optional but helpful for community engagement and fundraising)
- Guidance on planning and regulatory requirements, including accessibility
- Advice on phasing the build and indicative cost estimates to support future fundraising
Current Progress:
- An existing floor plan of the hub is already available
- Internal upgrades have been completed within the current space
- Funding has been secured for a feasibility study
- Initial engagement with the local council has been positive, with the council expressing support and a willingness to assist the project
This is a promising opportunity to contribute to a meaningful, community-driven initiative with strong local backing.
